$169 in 1974, and the receipt is in a drawer

A mother of six bought this Maytag new in 1974 for $169, and she kept the receipt. Fifty years on it's the washer the house runs. Belts, she says, are the only thing it has needed. Lately the agitator has started to struggle with heavy loads. Parts are hard to come by, and the one man locally who worked on it, the owner of a small appliance shop, died years ago.
