Jumped out of airplanes, run over by a Humvee

An 18-year-old bought this Aladdin vacuum bottle in 1988 and thought it cost too much. Before a cold jump or a night jump, it got filled with coffee and tucked under the top flap of a paratrooper's rucksack, to pass around on the ground while everyone waited for the ride back. One day the opening shock knocked it loose and it fell about 800 feet onto a sandy drop zone. Not a dent. Another time, training at Fort Polk, it got left beside a Humvee wheel and somebody drove off over it. In thirty years it has been through a war and several deployments. The cup has been replaced.
