A 340-pound hand-me-down from home

It washed baby bibs, then mud-caked dirt bike clothes, and more than 20 years ago it was where one kid ran a first load of laundry. When the parents moved and didn't need it anymore, that grown kid gave away a newer set, less than ten years old, to make room for it. Then moved all 340 pounds of Maytag without help. It holds together for a move like that because the dryer hangs on a frame at the back that runs down to the base the washer sits on. The dryer is natural gas. The last repair anyone remembers was a dryer sensor, back when its new owner was about ten.

Its date code, VX, puts it at December 1988.
