The ray gun drill turns at thinset speed

This 1959 Dormeyer, the ray gun style, belonged to a grandfather who died nearly 40 years ago, and it's working a bathroom remodel. It spins at just the right speed to mix thinset and doesn't bog when it goes into a bucket of thinset or concrete. The trigger spring is heavy and tiring to hold, but there's a lock: pull the trigger, push the button, and just hang on to the handles. Its owner is an electrical engineer who keeps plenty of cordless tools and reaches for corded ones on long jobs. A case ground or an inline breaker may get added.
