A July 1951 wedding gift, on the stove every day

This No. 8 Wagner skillet was a wedding present in July 1951, and it gets cooked in every day. The woman who received it raised seven kids and helped run a farm, so there was no spare time for fussing over a pan. That finish is just what nearly 70 years of regular cooking does. Her husband says she stripped and reseasoned it only a few times, and nobody knows her method. After she died, a grandchild visiting the grandfather cooked in it for a week and came away convinced it was slicker than a brand new Teflon pan.
