Don't fix it if it ain't broke

Cooked in until the handle came off

Grandma got these in the mid 1950s and has cooked in them for about 60 years, hard enough that one handle came off. Cast iron is fussy to weld. It wants heat and patience or it cracks. Grandpa owns welding gear, though, so the fix cost next to nothing. On a recent visit a grandkid finally took a close look and found them far smoother than the Lodge pans back home, which makes sense, since older pans were usually machined smooth inside and new ones are left rough from the mold. The fuss was loud enough that Grandma wrote herself a note: the skillets go to that grandkid.
