Tray 1 sometimes takes the whole stack

Just under half a million pages since 1996, on a busy network at an academic office. It weighs more than 120 pounds. The Macs there only talk to it through the open-source Gutenprint drivers, even though the system claims to recognize it on its own. Legal paper lives in Tray 1, which sometimes pulls the whole stack through at once. Paper pickup is where these always wore first, and anyone who serviced them in the 2000s replaced plenty of input units. Tray 2 is the sure bet. It's slow next to anything modern, and it does the job.
