Back in the 1970s its owner saved up for GE's top model, the 4870, one of the first AM/FM radios with a digital readout. Instead of turning a dial hunting for the best reception, you could land on the exact frequency. It's used every day, on the partner's side of the bed. Nobody cleans it. The dust and oily fingerprints, its owner reasons, are part of what keeps it working.

The other side of the bed has an internet radio.
