    Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser

    Done for 2022

    Microsoft retired the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app on June 15, 2022. Its engine hangs on as IE mode inside Edge, supported through at least 2029.

    The Super Size option on McDonald's menus

    Done for 2004

    McDonald's phased out Super Size in 2004, weeks after the documentary Super Size Me came out. It had been on the menu since 1987.

  3. Since 1960

    Checker Marathon taxicabs on New York City streets

    Done for 1999

    Checker quit building cars in 1982. The last Checker cab in New York retired in 1999. Earl Johnson drove it from 1978 on, for nearly a million miles and three engines.

    A Boeing jet that refuels other planes in midair

    Still going

    The KC-135 Stratotanker turned 70 on August 31, 2026, and more than 350 are still in service. The last one was delivered in 1965, and the Air Force expects to fly them into the 2050s.

    Sobrino de Botin is still serving roast suckling pig. Guinness lists it as the oldest restaurant in the world, dated to 1725, though some historians put its opening at 1865.
